Spring into planting season with water-saving tips
May 18, 2023
Following a few simple tips can help ensure your spring landscaping project is beautiful and water efficient.
Sunshine, rain showers and blooming flowers in practically every nursery and garden center may be giving you an itch to get out in the yard and get your hands dirty. Whatever the reason for working in and enjoying your yard, we have information to help you have a beautiful yard that is water efficient.
The St. Johns River Water Management District encourages year-round water conservation as a part of people’s everyday water use practices. Using water wisely in our landscapes helps ensure we have the water we need and that nature needs.
To help you save water in your landscapes, the District has created a new series of videos that provides quick tips to practice in your yard this season. The series is based on waterwise landscaping, a common sense way to landscape that conserves water and protects the environment. The main objective is to establish and maintain a healthy landscape by matching the right plants with existing site conditions so that the use of additional resources — such as water, fertilizer, pesticides and labor — is minimized.
