On June 26, lightning ignited a wildfire on a St. Johns River Water Management District property west of Interstate 95 and south of State Road 520 in Brevard County.

A recently completed project at a central Florida RV park and campground will help achieve water quality improvements for Lake Apopka and springs of the Wekiva system. The St. Johns River Water Management District contributed $34,425 to the project at Orange Blossom KOA in Orange County, which dismantled an old wastewater treatment plant and connected the campground to a central sewer system.

A project to provide recharge to the Floridan aquifer using excess water from flood-prone Black Creek received a nod from the district's Governing Board Tuesday, which directed its executive director to negotiate with the top-ranked design/engineering firm to get the project off the ground.
