District invites public input on recreation on central Florida conservation lands
The District will host a Central Region Recreational Public Meeting on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, from 6–8 p.m. The meeting will be held at the District’s Apopka Service Center located at 2501 S. Binion Road., Apopka, FL 32703.
The meeting is an opportunity for public stakeholders to provide input on the recreational use of District conservation lands within the central recreation area, which encompasses 19 properties located across Brevard, Flagler, Lake, Marion, Orange, Putnam, Seminole and Volusia counties. All members of the public are encouraged to participate and share their feedback on how these lands are managed and used for recreational purposes.
During the meeting, District staff will present an overview of recreation on District lands, provide updates on land management efforts and facilitate a public comment session. Those unable to attend in person can submit comments or questions via email to CentralRecreationComments@sjrwmd.com.
Please note that recreation and land management updates for the District’s Southwest Region, including the Lake Apopka North Shore (LANS), will be discussed at a separate public meeting on the 10-year draft Land Management Plan. That meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, 2024, at the same Apopka Service Center. If you are specifically interested in topics related to LANS, please plan to attend the Oct. 24 meeting.
