District begins property assessments following Hurricane Milton
The District has reopened its offices today, with staff actively conducting safety assessments of District-managed lands. Some properties are expected to reopen as early as this afternoon, depending on the results of those evaluations.
Due to significant flooding, the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive will remain closed until further notice.
The District anticipates reopening its navigational locks on Saturday, Oct. 12, following final safety inspections.
For the latest information on reopened properties, visit www.sjrwmd.com/lands/recreation. This page will be updated regularly as assessments are completed and more properties become available.
Visitors are strongly encouraged to check the status of individual properties before traveling, as conditions may vary across the District.
Public safety remains the primary focus as crews continue to restore access to District lands.
