NOTE: The construction work has been delayed and the property will remain open during its normal schedule.

PALATKA, Fla., May 20, 2024 — The St. Johns River Water Management District will be performing maintenance work on Laughlin Road just south of McDonald Canal Road from May 28 to June 18.

During this time, pedestrians can bypass the construction area using the Loop Trail. However, this project may impact the Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive during the weekend of June 14-16. Unfortunately, there is no detour available for the drive, and the District may need to close the drive for the weekend.

The contractor aims to complete the work as quickly as possible and hopes to finish it before the weekend. However, due to the nature of the work, this cannot be guaranteed until the project is underway, and progress is assessed.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as we undertake these critical improvements.
