Half marathon draws crowds to Lake Apopka Loop Trail this weekend

MAITLAND, Fla., Feb. 16, 2016 — Visitors to the popular St. Johns River Water Management District’s Lake Apopka Loop Trail should expect larger-than-usual crowds this weekend. The district-owned property is part of the mapped run for the 12th Annual Orlando Xtreme Half Marathon and 5k.

Race registration opens at 6 a.m. at Magnolia Park in Orange County. Runners will follow the racecourse along the Lake Apopka Loop Trail. The Lake Apopka Wildlife Drive, located east of the trail, will remain open during the race.
