Division of Information Technology
Peggy White is the director of the Division of Information Technology
The Division of Information Technology is responsible for the computing devices, software and databases used by St. Johns River Water Management District staff to perform their wide ranging job duties. Within the administrative functions of the division, staff plan for the District’s information technology needs, align technology solutions with the District’s initiatives, develop the division’s budget and work plan and provide customer service accountability.
The division is divided into two bureaus.
Bureau of Information Technology Services
The bureau provides for the management and support of the District’s technology infrastructure, and for the District’s array of core business and financial applications. Major areas of responsibility include the following:
- Managing the customer service desk and its functions
- Provisioning and supporting the District’s personal computers and servers, wireless (voice and data) services, cellular phones, smart phones and wireless modems
- Securing, managing and configuring the District’s Local Area Networks (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN)
- Configuring and managing the District’s enterprise databases and data storage
- Supporting the District’s financial applications and human resources management system
- Implementing business application off-the-shelf software, and cloud-based software or hardware services
- Managing and supporting business applications, such as District cell phone usage and billings, internal facilities management system and purchase card (P-card) management
- Managing fixed assets and the inventory of all technical equipment throughout the District
- Providing support and inventory management for data backup
- Geographic information system (GIS) data collection, analysis, staff training and support
Bureau of Integrated Application Services
The bureau is responsible for the development and support of applications that store, process and analyze collected data. Major areas of responsibility include the following:
- Software development for new systems in support of the daily operations of the District
- Application maintenance and support for more than 30 applications supporting the District’s regulatory, business and scientific activities
- Web-enabled GIS and GIS custom tools development
- Enterprise GIS database maintenance and development
